General Questions

What is Kabale Online?

Kabale Online is a multi-purpose platform built for the Kabale and Kigezi community, especially students. It combines a marketplace to buy and sell items, a directory for hostels and rentals, a hub for local services, an event calendar, and a lost & found board.

Is it free to use?

Yes! Creating an account, browsing listings, and posting items, services, or jobs is completely free. We do not charge any commission fees. All transactions are handled directly between users.

Buying & Selling

How do I sell an item?

After logging in, go to your dashboard and click "Upload an Item". You'll need to provide clear photos, a title, a description, and a price. Once submitted, your item will be live on the Shop page.

How do I buy an item?

When you find an item you want, click on it to see the details. You will find the seller's contact information (usually a phone number) on the product page. You must contact them directly to arrange payment and a safe, convenient meetup for delivery.

Services & Gigs

How do I offer a service?

To offer a skill (like tutoring, graphic design, etc.), visit our dedicated Services Platform. You can create a detailed profile and list each service you offer. Clients can then find and contact you directly through that platform.

Hostels & Rentals

How do I list a rental or hostel?

If you are a landlord or agent, you can list a property by going to your dashboard and selecting "List a Rental". You will be asked for details like location, price, amenities, and photos to help students find their next home.

Lost & Found

I lost my ID/phone. What should I do?

Go to the Lost & Found page and post a notice with details of your lost item. If someone finds it, they can contact you through the information you provide. We also encourage you to check this page regularly if you have found someone else's property.

Safety & Trust

How do I stay safe when meeting a buyer or seller?

We strongly recommend following these safety tips:

  • Always meet in a public, well-lit place (e.g., outside the university library, a popular cafe).
  • Tell a friend where you are going and who you are meeting.
  • Inspect items thoroughly before paying.
  • Use cash or mobile money for payments; avoid sharing sensitive financial information.
